Remember dousing your friends and family with a Super Soaker? The creator, Lonnie Johnson was a NASA engineer who came up with the idea while testing a new type of valve in his bathroom sink. Water shot across the room and he thought it might make a good water gun.
Success didn’t come right away. It took 7 years and reaching out to more than 75 toy manufacturers and retailers to get a company to produce the Super Soakers! Crazy right? It’s a lesson of perseverance that has a special place in our hearts.
Now, Lonnie is back to his engineering roots and working on a solid-state lithium battery for the transportation industry. Wow! What a ride of a career!!!
